The first Ronald McDonald House opened in 1974, growing into a globally respected charity that serves over 8,000 people each night.
In 1984, McDonald’s Corporation created Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities in honor of founder Ray Krock, aiming to fund organizations that benefit children in health care, medical research, education, the arts, and social services. In 1994, it merged with Ronald McDonald House to form Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Though we operate independently, donations to the Knoxville Ronald McDonald House stay local, supporting families of seriously ill children in area hospitals. Additionally, we award grants to local 501(c)(3) organizations that support children in East Tennessee.

Parents don’t know when their children will need medical help. But they should know they can always access the care they need. And with your help, we can support them all throughout their journey.
